Our Crew, Not Subcontractors
Our Crew, Not Subcontractors
Hiring a painter means trusting people with your home. Sometimes that means letting them through the front door. Other times it means having a crew working around your house, landscaping, vehicles, and property for several days.
You should know who those people are.
When you hire Under The Sun Construction, the painters doing the work are our employees. We don’t sell your project and then hand it off to another painting company.
Our crew is trained to our standards, and Shawn stays involved in making sure the finished work meets them. That gives us more control over the quality of the work, communication throughout the project, and how your home is treated from the first day of prep through the final walkthrough.
The people working on your home represent our name, and we take that seriously.

What We Do
Whether you’re changing one room or refreshing your entire home, we’ll help you figure out what the project actually needs and do the work the right way.
Interior Painting
Change the way your rooms look and feel without turning your home upside down.
We paint walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and other interior surfaces, from a single room to whole-home repaints. Careful preparation and protection help keep the project manageable while giving you a professional finish that looks good up close.
Exterior Painting
Refresh your home’s appearance while helping protect it from Pacific Northwest weather.
We paint siding, trim, fascia, doors, and other appropriate exterior surfaces, with careful preparation designed to give the new coating a solid surface to bond to and perform the way it should.
And exterior painting isn’t necessarily limited to a few months in the summer. We work throughout a much wider painting season when temperatures, surface conditions, moisture, and the forecast are appropriate.
Cabinet Painting
A new kitchen doesn’t always require new cabinets.
If your cabinet boxes are solid and you’re happy with the layout, professional cabinet painting can completely change the way your kitchen or bathroom feels without the cost and disruption of tearing everything out.
We carefully prepare the existing surfaces and use a sprayed finishing process for a smooth, professional appearance.

Which Painting Project Are You Considering?
Not sure where to start? Think about what you actually want to change.
Updating the Rooms You Live In?
If you’re tired of the colors on your walls, dealing with worn or damaged surfaces, or ready to make several rooms feel more like your home, start with Interior Painting.
Protecting or Refreshing the Outside of Your Home?
If your exterior is faded, peeling, chalking, or simply ready for a new color, start with Exterior Painting.
Happy With Your Kitchen, but Tired of the Cabinets?
If the layout works and the cabinets are still solid, you may not need a remodel. Start with Cabinet Painting.
More Than Putting Paint on a Surface
There are plenty of ways to make a paint job faster.
Skip some sanding. Paint over a problem. Rush the masking. Use whatever primer happens to be handy. Call it good from six feet away.
That’s not how we want to work.
Whether we’re painting a bedroom, the exterior of your home, or your kitchen cabinets, we pay attention to what happens before the finish coat goes on.
Prep for the Surface
Drywall, siding, trim, doors, and cabinets aren’t the same surface, so they shouldn’t all be prepared or painted the same way.
We look at what we’re working with and prepare it accordingly.
Protect What Isn’t Being Painted
A good paint job isn’t just about where the paint goes. It’s also about where it doesn’t.
Depending on the project, that may mean protecting floors, furniture, fixtures, windows, landscaping, concrete, roofing, or adjoining surfaces before painting begins.
Finish for the Way It’s Used
A kitchen cabinet has different demands than a bedroom ceiling. Exterior siding faces conditions that an interior wall never will.
The products and finishes used should make sense for the surface, location, and way that area of your home is actually used.
The goal isn’t simply fresh paint. It’s the right preparation and finish for the job.
Here’s How It Works
1. We Talk It Through
We start by looking at what you want painted and what you’re hoping to change.
Whether it’s one bedroom, your kitchen cabinets, the exterior of your house, or several projects at once, we’ll answer your questions and talk through what the work will involve.
2. You Get an Honest Estimate
We’ll explain what your project needs so you understand the work we’re proposing before we start.
You’ll know what’s included, what we’re painting, and what to expect before work begins.
No vague promises and no surprise additions halfway through the job.
3. We Do the Prep Right
The exact preparation depends on what we’re painting.
That might mean patching and sanding interior walls, cleaning and scraping exterior surfaces, carefully preparing cabinetry, masking, priming, or protecting everything around the work area.
It’s often the part homeowners don’t notice when the project is finished.
That’s exactly the point.
4. We Paint and Keep You Informed
Our crew completes the work according to the plan we’ve discussed with you, and we keep you updated as the project progresses.
If weather changes an exterior schedule or we find something unexpected during preparation, you’ll know what’s happening rather than wondering where your painters went.
5. We Walk Through the Finished Project With You
When the painting is complete, we inspect the work, take care of final details, clean the work area, and walk through the project with you.
We want you to see the finished work before we consider the job complete.
Most of our Business Started with a Referral. Don’t Just Take Our Word for It.
Let’s Talk About Your Painting Project
You don’t need to know exactly what paint you want, how many coats you need, or what kind of prep your home requires before you call us.
That’s our part of the job.
Tell us what you’d like to change. We’ll take a look, talk through your options, explain what the project needs, and give you an honest estimate for the work.
No pressure. No surprises.
